Danica Patrick became the first women to lead a lap at the Daytona 500. She finished 8th. But she was not the first women to race at Daytona. Janet Guthrie was the previous women and she finished 11th. http://m.cbsnews.com/storysynopsis.rbml?pageType=sports&url=http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-400_162-57570987/danica-patrick-first-woman-to-lead-a-lap-at-daytona-500/&catid=57570987
I think that this is a great step for women in athletics. Women are usually underestimated and Danica Patrick is proving that she can do just as well as any other guy out there. This will give young girls a role model to look up to and help them believe that if they want to achieve their dreams then they can and they shouldn't let anything stop them.
